NES Cartridge Fetches $35k

We beg your pardon?

We've brought you news of ancient video games going for a lot of money before, but this one... this one is pretty special. A sealed copy of Stadium Events, a title for the ever-wonderful NES console, has sold on eBay for a huge $35,100. The fact that it was sealed presumably helped drive the bids up, as did the fact that this particular game stands out more than most.

Released in 1987, Stadium Events was intended for use with a floor mat peripheral produced by Bandai, which was discontinued pretty swiftly after its launch, forcing the game to be pulled from shelves at the same time.

Making for a very limited run of the game, this all means that this is a very rare beast indeed. Some bids came in at around $100,000 before being removed and then the final figure was finally settled on. What's the buyer going to do with it? Hopefully, visit an Antiques Roadshow recording very soon. Or maybe they just really, really want to play it?

Six Of The Best… SPACE PILOTS

Need some space? These folks are your ticket to all of it

Given that the cosmos is so big it’s frankly just rude, real starfaring pilots will find themselves more and more in demand as the expectations of the future bear down. And yet this noble role is ill-served by the videogame biz. We’ve got high fantasy heroes coming out of our grubby goblin ears and enough elite soldiers to answer every call of duty until the end of time, but space jockeys? Not so many, at least not with their own identities: there are plenty of big missions where it’s you hogging the controls, you awful glory hunter.
So here we call out some of the names and faces providing gaming’s response to those Death Star trench run air-punch moments. Bubbling under: the amusing but barely competent Jetman, and Spanky the Aero Fighters dolphin because he’s technically just a jet pilot. Dammit.

Proco and Tiat
Darius (Arcade – 1986)
Listed as one fightin’ unit, two Silver Hawk pilots forever paired in the aquatic Darius space shmups. Surely by now sick of the sight of huge battleships approaching fast. And the smell of fish markets.

Carth Onasi
Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic (PC, Xbox – 2003)
Every man and his dog droid seems to be a pilot in Star Wars. So how did Carth stand out? By nicking the Ebon Hawk to get you off an exploding planet, for starters.

Falco Lombardi
Starwing (SNES – 1993)
If he was a real bird you’d cook him and eat him because he’s a bit of a tool, but in the Star Fox series Falco is the most coolly efficient flyer, whether on duty or turning up, like a tool, as a last second lifesaver.

Maverick
Wing Commander III (PC, PS1, 3DO – 1994)
Not that one. Wing Commander hero Christopher ‘Maverick’ Blair was suddenly Mark Hamill in this third lot of 27th century dogfights against Kilrathi cat-men. Creator Chris Roberts later set up crowdfunding monster Star Citizen.

Commander Jameson
Elite (BBC Micro – 1984)
While Jameson’s persona could be easily overwritten, he was as good a Cobra Mk III pilot as any (and better-known than most) with whom to lift off from Lave and melt Thargoids in the cold pits of space.

Foe Hammer
Halo: Combat Evolved (PC, Xbox – 2001)
Need air support, Spartan? Heads up: it’s Captain Carol ‘Foe Hammer’ Rawley of Pelican dropship Echo 419, merrily pulling off lunatic rescue ops and troop drops on hostile turf throughout the original Halo.

Dying Light Mini Review and Screenshots for PC

Opinion after 5 hours of playing:
I can sure say this was worth the wait and it isn't overrated. To sum this game up, take Dead Island, add parkour & make improvements on the game.

So positives:

+Beautiful Graphics
+Parkour works perfectly
+Combat is fun
+Variety of enemies
+Zombie kills are satisfying
+Story is interesting
+Nighttime is intense
+Crafting on the spot
+Nice skill trees
+Place is enjoyable to explore

Negatives:
Obviously the positives easily outweigh the negatives but anywho.

-Some stuttering & FPS issues
-Won't run in fullscreen
-Can only fix a weapon 3 times? (Comment if there is anyway to fix it over 3 times)
Verdict: 84/100

The 5 Greatest PlayStation Icons of All Time

After 20 years, the PS public has picked its faves
Over the past two decades we’ve seen incredible places and done impossible things. But through it all, it’s the characters who have stuck with us – the heroes and villains we still remember 20 years later.

“Crash’s first adventure was colourful, charming and punishingly difficult.”

1. Crash Bandicoot
Known for Changing 3D gaming forever.

2. Kratos
Known for Tortured growling, albinism, half-baked misogynist controversy.

3. Nathan Drake
Known for Knocking Lara off her wobbly pedestal. Then stealing it.

4. Batman
Known for Hanging crims from gargoyles. Ineptly piloting Remote Batarangs.

5. Dante
Known for Air-juggling demon scum.

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt’s DLC will be free for all

CD Projekt Red knows how to do it right.

DLC has become, for a lot of companies, either a money-spinner, or a way to influence pre-order decisions. But that’s not the case with CD Projekt Red and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt – Red announced recently that the game will be getting 16 separate DLC packages, and they’ll all be free.
Free!

You do not have to pre-order the game – you can just buy it normally. You do not need the Collector’s Edition – any edition will be getting the new content. And they’re also going to be coming thick and fast, with packs released two at time, every week, from the game’s launch on the May 19, 2015.

The DLCs aren’t all that big, though. The first two just offer a new armour set and some different hair and beards for Geralt (hipster beards?), but hey – free! And the second set at least contains a whole new quest, which is nothing to sniff at when (once again) you remember it’s FREE.
Nice move, CD Projekt Red. Now hurry up and get cracking on Cyberpunk 2077!

Grow Home Review and System Requirements

GameInfo: Grow Home is a platforming adventure PC(windows) game developed by Reflections, Ubisoft Studio and published by Ubisoft.
Review: So you play as a little grabby robot that is eternally enthusiastic, as he should be, because this game is REALLY FUN and you can climb all over all these big damn rocks and whatever! And all the animation is procedural which, would look really goofy with a human character unless they really really refined it, so that's why they made you a goofy robot probably. It's physical humour, almost, which the SKATE series has kind of accidentally nailed with it's INCREDIBLY BIZZARE physics engine that allows the game to transcend skateboarding. But uh, that's another story for another time.

Anyway this game rules, it's basically everything i've wanted in a platforming game since Mario 64- Not more plot, not more cutscenes, not more GUNSS, just more fun and engaging and enjoyable pure platforming action, and as in this game, free climbing and super rad cool polygonal artsy graphics with the sound of soothing waves and the breeze in your metal ears. Be a kid again and climb you some rocks, even if the camera is a bit wonky sometimes! I kinda theorize that maybe this game came from Ubisoft testing out a new ♥♥♥ Creed climbing system? Which is great because I really don't like ♥♥♥ Creed but I really like this! The controls are really simple but, intutive and easy to grasp, they reccomend a gamepad but honestly the mouse + keyboard controls work just fine. Plus it's only like 8 dollars? I've accidentally dropped more money than that on a windy day. Check it out, if you like climbing rocks and accidentally drowning happy robots.
Verdict: 80/100
System Requirements:

Minimum:
OS: Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8/8.1 (both 32 and 64bit versions)

Highlands - PC Reviews

GameInfo Screenshots Specs Reviews Trailer

This really isn't a game any more than sitting in a corner by yourself and rolling a pair of dice over and over is a game. It's very simple with some very rudimentary strategy elements. I found myself bored with Highlands a little bit after the tutorial and have completely run out of patience. Also, there's not really any justification for the setting of floating islands. I mean it looks cool, but it's just a standard 2D map with some clouds around it. Being up in the air doesn't really effect anything and I wonder why they decided that this was the right setting for their story. Nothing is animated, everything is very flat and cheap and used over and over again. Very nice art, really bad game.

Best Arcade Fighting Sticks for PC (TOP PC Arcade Joysticks for PC-Windows)

Joytron Paewang Revolution

I have had my Arcade Fight Stick for almost 1 year now and have been using it for Shmups, platform games, fighting games, and adventure type games as well as some emualated PC classic retro games, A well rounded Arcade stick that has many uses for gaming. Excellent product and highly recommend this awesome Arcade Stick. The durability is long lasting and leaves ample room for custom modding so Gamers definately grab this bad boy while supplies last.
Rating: 5/5

Hori Fighting Stick Ex 2 with Sanwa Buttons

This is another high quality fighting stick from Hori that upholds the reputation of their fighting sticks for other platforms. If you love arcade style games (especially fighting games), you will enjoy the feeling of using this control.

One of the best things about this product is that it will increase your enjoyment of all your arcade style Xbox Live Arcade games as well as current fighting games. It can also be used with your PC.

The quality of the arcade stick is more of the same for Hori. The stick itself is very responsive and well suited for fighting game moves that require finesse. The control face features the B,X,Y and A,RT,LT in typical fighting game configuration, great for practically all fighting games. However, RB and LB are located at the top edge along with Start, Back, and the Dashboard button which effectively places LB and RB out of reach during heated play. A feature that I always felt was overlooked in Hori fighting sticks is the heavy plate on the bottom of the control. This prevents you from lifting or moving the stick around on your desk or tabletop surface during play. Of course, the joystick functions as a D-Pad, not an analog stick.

This (like other Hori fighting sticks) is an EXTREMELY accurate and responsive control which makes it wonderful for most players. However, I have encountered some guest players who were not accustomed to using an accurate control and needed a little time adjusting to it.

The controller is NOT wireless and uses a USB cable to connect to the Xbox 360 console or PC. The Xbox Live headset can be connected to the controller on the edge facing you.

When connecting to your XP (and probably Vista) PC, it is recognized and given a default driver that works great with practically any application. Some software might require the use of a different driver. There are custom drivers out there if you don't mind doing some tinkering.

Overall, this is a great product that will provide you with more accurate control than the D-Pad and more fun playing arcade style games.
Rating: 5/5

Qanba Q4 Q4RAF

I bought this stick over a year ago, still going strong. Easy to mod, great quality parts. I have played a lot of street fighter 4 and various platformers and fighting games on it and it does amazingly.
Being able to play on both ps3, xbox and pc is a godsend for tournament players and anyone who would potentially need to play on more than 1 platfom.
it has a great weight to it and the handle bar and even if it looks stupid, the handlebar is great if you don't have a fightstick bag for tournaments

(extremely minor complaint below)
One thing I dont like is that there is no lock button for the pause and home buttons. I go to tournaments occasionally and the start button is on the front which has a chance to disqualify you from a match or make you lose that match. While games like guilty gear Xrd have solved this issue by making you have to hold the pause button, most games don't. You honestly have to be mashing really hard for this to be an issue, though. Rating: 5/5

Mad Catz Arcade FightStick PRO

It takes a little bit of effort to get use to the stick if you're new to it but other than that it works perfectly.

The only thing that bothers me is the START and SELECT buttons because it's at the front of the box.

Grand Class Melee 2 Review and System Requirements

GameInfo: Grand Class Melee 2 is an RPG job system arena fighter for 1-4 players with a huge roster of over 60 classes to battle with.

Review: A wonderful game that started as an Xbox Live Indie Game product for the 360.

It's a fasntastic local multiplayer experience, and the combat feels similar to that of Link to the Past, with some more RPG mechanics, and a class change after every round finishes.

Things to be noted, this game is currently local only, but online multiplayer is planned. An Xbox controller is also highly recommended, but not required as the controls are fully customizable.

Definitely give it a go, and play it with friends. It's a wildly fun experience and it will continue to recieve polish and balancing patches as it progresses through early access.
